How does the ink flow of the pen?
I have a fountain pen xfine and have not used it in a while. It is full ink, but that just will not write!
The tip is probably filled with dried ink from the last time you used it. Try cleaning the tube ink (goes in the Ink Cartridge) with a pipe cleaner.

Fountain Pen for School – is a good idea?
I'd say the answer is a definite yes, but you must follow some basic principles. First Instead, do not use an ink that is considered wet. Choose an ink that dries quickly for you. The document is also important, some papers have a brightness nearly feel to them, with very poor absorption. You should also avoid large spikes on the pens you use, such as writing a fine point dry faster. Fountain pens are a much less that ROLLERBALLS and pens. Gel Pens can be very good, but suffer from ink stains.
Ink drying is a combination of ink and paper type. Most writers these days inks dry very quickly, this is more important for left-handers. If using a piston some stuffed in his pen source, make sure that takes a lot of ink and higher regularly. Preferably you should use a cartridge pen, as can be keep some spare cartridges of different types in the bag at the university. I recommend you keep spare cartridges in his pocket, because they might break or leak, and that's a disaster!
Fountain pens write using their own weight on paper, not necessary to apply additional pressure as it does with other types of pen.
